To get the three 3 coins, players you first find three hidden keys:

In normal mode: the red key in Act II: World on Fire, the blue key in Game VI: Enter the Forest Temple, and the yellow key in Simulation VIII: Beyond Reality.
In alternate mode: The coins can only be obtained by memorizing and correctly entering the codes, which transform artificial obstacles into real ones. Successfully negotiating the narrow ship portion with spikes and dangers earns the player all three coins.
